TOTO PARK HYATT SANYA SUNNY BAY RESORT Project
When people think of Hainan Island—China’s southernmost province, dubbed the “Hawaii of China” (it’s the same latitude as Hawaii)—they think of Sanya and Yalong Bay. A five-mile crescent of sand that opens out into the South China Sea, it’s the island’s most popular destination, with at least 20 hotels lining the same stretch of beach.

As with all Park Hyatt hotels, location is of the utmost importance. So for the new Park Hyatt Sanya Sunny Bay Resort, it was important to provide guests with easy access to this vibrant strip of bars and restaurants while still maintaining privacy and exclusivity. To that end, the resort has carved out a private corner of Yalong Bay just for itself: a secluded cove called Sunny Bay, just a 5 km (3.1 mi) drive from Yalong Bay. The resort also has its own private bay, Baifu Bay, adjacent to Sunny Bay, renowned for some of the best diving conditions in China. The entire area is designated a national soft coral reserve by conservation organizations.

Park Hyatt Sanya Sunny Bay Resort was designed by award-winning Belgian architect Jean-Michel Gathy of renowned design consultancy Denniston. This striking modern project comprises six independent, arch-shaped buildings designed to allow for an unobstructed flow of air between the sea and the mountains. Set amidst lush greenery, each building and its interior space has been carefully considered to maximize the guest experience while admiring the stunning views. The six buildings are linked by wide walkways, decorated with paintings and sculptures, creating a variety of artistic settings, offering a peaceful and refined artistic stroll experience.

With just 207 rooms and villas spread over 70,000 square metres (753,474 sq ft) – a small number for a project of its size – guests staying at Park Hyatt Sanya Sunny Bay Resort can feel as though the resort is theirs to call their own. Yet when service is required, it is prompt and of a high standard: warm, discreet, attentive, responsive and personalised to each guest’s needs.

The room layout at Park Hyatt Sanya Sunny Bay Resort is simple: 28 Park Rooms with Balcony, 136 Ocean View Rooms, 25 Park Suites, one President Suite and 17 Park Villas. Most rooms offer spectacular views of the beach and ocean from panoramic windows that stretch from one side of the room to the other, further enhanced by a square mirrored glass panel on one side, giving the impression of a 270-degree view.
